Woodstock Introduces its New Social Platform

Woodstock organizers and record giant Sony Music Entertainment have recently announced a new social networking platform called Woodstock.com that will provide users with interactive tools and wide collection of music contents.

In a statement, Woodstock officials said the new Internet property will reach a broader audience of music lovers and provide them with live concerts and video and visual recordings.

Meanwhile, the officials also said the website will provide exclusive photos of music artists, news and information about the latest issues in the entertainment industry, and exclusive interviews with artists and record producers.

To provide music to its users, the social platform will also feature online store just like Apple’s iTune and Nokia online music store, Sony and Woodstock organizers said.

Users can already access the social site but still it lacks exclusive contents and some unique features such as the online music store as the Internet property is still under improvement.

In an interview with Woodstock founder Michael Lang, he said that the site is line with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the popular musical event which attracted thousands of people in different parts of the world.

“The website [Woodstock.com] uses the web 2.0 technology that will serve as place where idealism, peace, and unity will flourish.  This site also promotes peace to all people through music”, Lang added.

The Woodstock Festival was first held in a rural town of Bethel in New York in 1969.

During the 1970s, the musical event promoted cultural diversity and hippie and bohemian lifestyle among the youths.

While the whole theme of Woodstock Festival is to promote peace and unity, this even gained notoriety as some people from the audience were known to bring drugs and alcohols.
