Users Excited Over MySpace Karaoke Service Japanese Online
Following a successful launched in the United States and Canada, MySpace Karaoke has now invaded the “land of karaoke” as the Internet giant officially opened its doors in Japan Tuesday.
MySpace Karaoke General Manager Nimrod Lev said that they were surprised to see how the Japanese people gave a warm reception during the launching, saying that he “thought it would be like selling ice cream to Eskimos.”
The Karaoke feature in MySpace is now tapping on the amateur market in Japan making this as the biggest user-generated music service in the whole world. The earlier launching in the US has created much buzz in the online community registering over eight million hits. MySpace said that these numbers are expected to sky-rocket following the launched.
Amateur singers and even professional singers can now post recorded videos of themselves in MySpace Karaoke. MySpace, which was owned by the News Corp., has generated an overhauled version of the karaoke feature to make it more user-friendly.
Likewise, the Internet Company signed agreements with recording companies allowing online users to select the song of their choice without the hassle of copyrights law.
The Karaoke feature was made possible by creating software that would allow people record video and sound though the PC’s microphones and Webcams, Lev explained.
However, in Japan, the company has developed and tailor-fitted the service to the “local tongue”.
Lev said that they have to make sure that all the shaded areas will be covered by the new Karaoke feature, adding that Japanese people love to sing in their own language.
To date, there are more than 1 million video recordings and songs uploaded to MySpace.
MySpace said that this may bubble up significantly as 50 million Japanese, or 40 percent of the total population, love karaoke.

Japan is the home of Karaoke therefore new ideals in this field are quickly adopted , modified and disgarded. Myspace must keep the system fresh to hold any long term market.
