TravBuddy A Social Networking for Travelers
TravBuddy, a social networking site for travelers, has won the “Official Honoree” in the social networking category as it provides interactive tools and social platforms that will allow its users to share ideas and join discussion regarding the best places to travel.
The recognition was given by Webby Awards which is an international award-giving body in the Internet sector. This organization is composed of web designers, creative celebrities, luminaries, business experts, and Internet specialists.
According to Webby Awards, there are nearly 10,000 Internet properties which joined the competition, but only 15 percent of entries were given “Official Honoree Status” which recognized the site’s interactive tools, user-friendly features, and popularity among web-centric users. Out of this percentage, 11 social networking sites have received this recognition.
In a statement, TravBuddy chief executive Eric Bjorndahl said he is proud to know that his site has received such Internet distinction.
“Despite the strict competition among social networking platforms, and the fact that we are not as big compared to mainstream online communities, receiving such recognition just tell how focused and determined we are in providing the most interactive tools for travelers who want to share their ideas and join discussions with other members”, Bjorndahl said.
In 2005, two brothers, Eric and David Bjorndahl has launched the travel site that targets a niche market of people who take pleasure in visiting different places and discovering new culture and tradition.
Today, TravBuddy has more than 1.5 million active members who posted nearly 2 million travel photos and 111,000 blogs.
Meanwhile, the founders of this social platform expect that it will expand its market.
