According to a BBC report, social networks and forums have overtaken porn sites as more British Internet users are preferring to visit online communities where there are more interactive features than adult websites.

The report was conducted during the fourth-quarter of 2008, and according to experts, social networks will continue to enjoy popularity than other Internet properties for more years.

In US, adult websites are still flourishing that these have become a large industry that generates millions of dollars every month.  But on the other hand, social networks have also gained tremendous popularity that some experts have predicted that it would overtake the porn sites in the near future.

As more people are now joining online communities, social networks have become one of the most visited Internet properties worldwide.  According to a recent survey conducted by research firm comScore, Facebook is the seventh most popular sites in the world.

Meanwhile, the online porn industry wouldn’t just easily succumb, as sex sells in the Internet market.

To lure more visitors, most adult sites are using Bitorrent protocol, a computer network program that will allow people to download files faster and easier despite large Internet traffic.

The good thing about mainstream social networking sites (such as Facebook and MySpace) is that it draw a line that will make it different from adult forums.  For example, members are not allowed to post indecent, malicious, and sexually-explicit pictures from their social accounts.  If someone violated this policy, the indent pictures will be deleted from the profile accounts.
