MySpace | A place for friends

One of the most popular social networking websites in the United States is MySpace. It is said to have been the most popular as of June of 2006 before it was overtaken by competitor Facebook on April of 2008 in terms of monthly unique visitors. It is nonetheless one of the biggest social networking websites which registers about two-hundred and thirty thousand new users per day.
Registration to this network is free. All that’s required is an e-mail account and a password, having logged into your MySpace account you’ll then be asked to fill in your profile and upload your photos. You’ll see there its home page appearance which consists mainly of smooth blue space boxes and a white background.
So what’s in this site? What makes it so popular?

As you’ll see, MySpace home page contains many things such as mood emoticons, blogs, pictures and video uploaders, network groups, skin editor, mail, bulletin space, recent features, friend updates, and friends’ space. These are the main contents that you can see in your home page – the essential things that make a great social networking website what it is supposed to be. It’s basically complete.
If complete is not enough, then in addition to these mentioned, there are some extra features within your site that needs checking out for you to even enjoy more – features such as Instant Messenger, mobile, classifieds, TV, games, and others still. You can’t directly see these features because they are hidden under the “More” tab that’s located at the upper portion of the home page. These extras give MySpace a great edge over many other such sites, and these are the features that social networking site users would want.
MySpace Instant Messenger, as its name applies, allows you to send and receive messages from fellow users, instead of sending each other messages ala e-mail messaging which would take more time and effort. Instant Messenger allows you to have a decent conversation with a friend who is miles away.
MySpace mobile allows you to access your profile and communicate with other members through your mobile phone, in case you’re not sitting in front of your computer at home. This enables you to access your site wherever you go, because you’d always have your mobile phone with you. This, however, is applicable only to certain mobile phones made with this feature.
MySpace classifieds allows some registered companies to advertise within the network, offering another way to attend to your lifestyle and needs.
MySpace TV is simply a video sharing feature – just another extra to improve your experience, and so is MySpace karaoke which is a feature that allows you to upload audio recordings of yourself, and these can be rated by your friends within the network. It is said that a video version of this feature will soon be available.
The MySpace games feature provides you with a simple form of pastime or a means of simply killing the time. This features simple games such as backgammon, pool, checkers, chess, card games, and the like.
But of course these are not all there is to the network. There are yet some features that are for the users to explore.
