Mobile Phone to Support Social Networking
Motorola, the world’s leading manufacturer of mobile phone devices, is planning to create a mobile handset which will be specifically designed to support social networking.
The company is now investing huge sums of money to execute its plan to tap the lucrative market of social networking cell phones.
According to BusinessWeek, the company is developing a device which will feature touch screen which is almost similar to the one used by iPhone; functions which can support social networking; and Qwerty keyboards.
This device will be highly based from Android Operating system which is a software platform that can support advanced media technology and a wide array of connectivity. Meanwhile, Motorola will not be the first to use this technology. High Tech Computer Corporation, a company based from Taiwan, has introduced last month the T-Mobile G1 which uses this software platform.
In the mean time, Motorola is planning to introduce this handset next year during the second quarter. Meanwhile, this social smartphone is an attempt to revive the declining revenue which has been considered as the company’s all-time low for almost 16 years.
According to a high-ranking official of the company, they are now seeking partnership with Google and other industries which are included in the Open Handset Alliance which is an organization that is permitted to use the Android Technology.
Meanwhile, this mobile phone will have the main features which can allow users to get easily connected to social networking sites such as MySpace, Friendster, and FaceBook, among others.
The company is now showing specs and images of its handset blueprint to mobile carriers around the globe to make sure that this device will be highly accepted by the general public by the time that this would be introduced to the market.
