Disney Launches Own Social Site
Walt Disney company recently introduced its own social network site called DisFriends.com that will allow Disney fans to interact with other people with the same interests.
One of the main highlights of this social site is the interactive communication tools such as discussion forums and real-time chat that will allow users to interact with other people and share their common interests.
Like traditional online communities, DisFriends.com allows members to personalize their profile accounts, share photos, write journals, and create special groups.
In an interview, Disney founder Trent Schwartz said that fans of Mickey Mouse and other popular Disney characters can have a place “where they can converge and interact to other fans to share the same interests.”
Schwartz also said the new social site will serve as a platform for online Disney world, adding that this can also serve “as a common town square” for Disney fans worldwide.
This online community which serves a niche market is more intimate than most social sites as users can know each other on a personal level, Schwartz added.
“DisFriends is a place where members can have fun and inspire one another. Fans can also share their opinions through public announcement and forums to express themselves as Disney fans”, he said.
DisFriends.com also provides multiple privacy tools which can protect its members. These features are very important nowadays since many identity thieves and fraudsters are targeting users of social networking sites.
With this website, users can also read the latest news about Disney movies, games, TV shows, and other programs of the company. Another notable feature is the music list which allows members to listen to songs for free, but because the site only offers its own copyrighted materials, expect that the list is not as many compared to music p2p sites.
