Cisco Introduces Software to Build Social Networking
Cisco Sytems Inc., a multinational corporation which provides communication and networking technology, announced its newest software called Eos which is a platform that will allow media companies to use social networking features to expand its market.
This software platform allows companies to create highly interactive sites, making it easier to target potential consumers, to promote a certain product or service, and to monitor market demand.
With Eos software, media firms can create forums, blogs, message boards, live chats, rating systems, and other interactive tools which can monitor people’s feedback.
In 2006, Cisco encouraged companies to use social networking technology by creating Media Solution which is a business unit for developing and designing interactive technologies.
In a statement, Cisco executive Dan Scheinman said that Eos can solve the biggest problem of media companies which is the lack of interaction between the audience and provider, adding that this new software will allow people to give their feedback which can be used by companies to improve its products and services.
Scheinman said that social networking is a highly effective marketing tool for media companies to reach its target-market because this allows people to influence others’ beliefs and social trends.
He also said that companies can combat online and digital piracy by providing interactive features through its own website.
One of Cisco’s major clients is Warner Music which signed up for Eos service to create interactive websites for its artists.
According to Warner Music executive vice-president of digital strategy and business development Michael Nash, the company believes that creating an interactive community for music fans, it will be easier to promote artists to a wider audience and expand its market.
